Pashupatinath is an active sacred complex, not only a sightseeing stop. Access, ritual timing, crowd levels and photography expectations should be handled with respect and current local guidance.
Plan the visit window
Allow time for security, walking and crowd movement. If evening aarti is a priority, confirm the current timing locally and arrive early. Festival days can change access and traffic considerably.
Respect worship and cremation areas
Follow signs and the guide's instructions about footwear, temple entry, photography and restricted spaces. Keep voices low and do not photograph people or ceremonies without clear permission.
Build a realistic Kathmandu day
Pashupatinath can be paired with Boudhanath or another nearby heritage area, but traffic and walking time matter. A private guide can explain traditions while keeping the visit sensitive and efficient.
